About Us

Since the Turn of the Century — Where Tradition Meets Taste

Nestled in the heart of Coral Springs, Pepperoni Grill is more than just an Italian-American restaurant — it’s a celebration of family, flavor, and timeless tradition. For over a century, our recipes have been passed down through generations, lovingly preserved from our great- grandmother’s kitchen in Southern Italy to your plate today. We opened our doors in 1999 with one goal: to bring real, soulful Italian cooking to our community. Every dish we serve tells a story — of Sunday dinners, handwritten recipe books, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like family the moment you walk through the door. Whether you’re grabbing a slice on the go or sitting down for a full-course meal with your loved ones, Pepperoni Grill offers an experience rooted in authenticity. From our hand-rolled lasagna to our signature marinara sauce (still made from a closely guarded family recipe), everything on the menu is crafted with the same care and tradition we’ve honored for more than 120 years.

Our Mission

To preserve the legacy of real Italian cooking, serve our guests with heart, and create a space that feels like home — every single day.

Our Story Lives On

We’re not just keeping old traditions alive — we’re making new memories every day. Through our Pepperoni Grill Magazine, we spotlight the stories behind our food, the faces behind the counter, and the guests who’ve become family.

Our Ingredients

We believe in food that speaks for itself — fresh basil, vine-ripened tomatoes, handcrafted dough, imported cheeses, and meats sourced from trusted partners. Every ingredient that enters our kitchen is chosen with purpose and integrity.

Our Kitchen

At the heart of Pepperoni Grill is our kitchen — a space where tradition meets technique. Led by Chef Mathew and our dedicated culinary team, we honor classic Italian methods while continually exploring seasonal creativity. Our menu ranges from classic entrées like Chicken Parmigiana and Penne alla Vodka to new additions like our Italian breakfast and late-night dessert program, coming soon.

Creating a Menu Story

The Mushroom Soup, a fan-favorite soup of the day for 26 years, was created by Michael as a result of a happy accident.

  • In a stroke of genius, he chose to substitute portobello mushrooms in a broccoli soup recipe; What he initially thought might have been a mistake birthed a creamy and delicious, one-of-a-kind soup. To place the legacy of this soup into perspective: to this day, customers leave their phone numbers with our staff to be notified when the mushroom soup is our soup du jour. It’ll be your lucky day if the mushroom soup is available upon ordering, as it is a must-try!
  • Michael brings the tastes of his hometown, Philadelphia—a melting pot for food lovers to the plate at Pepperoni Grill in the Pepperoni Sticks. Made fresh daily, Pepperoni Sticks are served in orders of 3 or 6, offering a tasty twist on a bread stick as it is stuffed with pepperoni.

Michael welcomes our customers home in the way he knows best: by cooking his grandma’s recipes to invite them to the tastes of his favorite Italian kitchen.

  • His grandmother’s lasagna has been a favorite among his family for decades, and this love has been extended to his customers. A recipe, passed down to Michael through generations, originates from Calabria, Italy, where his family line is from. With accents of authentic Italian flavors, the layers of sausage and cheeses are delicately compiled to form an irresistible dish of Italian glory.
  • The marinara sauce is the pinnacle of our menu, as a supporting base for dozens of menu items, including our mozzarella sticks, pasta dishes, and even our pizzas. The sauce is another recipe from Michael’s grandmother’s kitchen, and delivers the experience of authenticity in every bite, no matter the dish it complements.
  • The pasta fagioli soup holds a permanent spot on our soup menu, offering a comforting side option that makes ordering feel at home. The soup was a classic in Michael’s household, cooked by his mother and grandmother. The medley of beans, carrots, onions, celery, bacon, and pasta provides a hearty and balanced soup that pairs well with any of our entrees.

Our Story

1993

A Culinary Foundation

Michael Weingard graduates from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (Class of 1993), building a strong foundation in classic and modern culinary techniques.

Early 1990s

Learning from the Best

While completing his formal education, Michael undertakes an externship at Campanile in Los Angeles, working under renowned Chef Mark Peel and Michelin-starred, James Beard Award-winning Chef Nancy Silverton—an experience that shaped his approach to Italian-American cuisine.

Mid-1990s

Immersed in Italy

Driven by passion and curiosity, Michael spends a full year in Florence, Italy, deepening his understanding of authentic Italian cooking, regional flavors, and culinary traditions.

Late 1990s

Bringing Italian Cuisine Home

Returning to the United States, Michael partners with his mentor and cousin, Tony D’Silvestro, in Virginia Beach to help develop Ynot Pizza, a concept that would later grow into the well-known Ynot Italian franchise across Virginia.

1999

The Birth of Pepperoni Grill

After five successful years at Ynot Pizza, Michael relocates to Coral Springs, Florida, where he helps create and launch Pepperoni Grill. From the very beginning, the restaurant is rooted in authenticity, family tradition, and heartfelt hospitality.

2000s

Crafting the Pepperoni Grill Identity

Michael blends generations-old family recipes—like his grandmother’s pasta fagioli, lasagna, and marinara sauce—with his own original creations, including house-made mushroom soup and signature pepperoni sticks. Every dish reflects his culinary journey and dedication to quality.
